Ayahuasca & Dietas
in the Peruvian Amazon

1. Psychotic disorders: Individuals with a history of psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, may be at increased risk for a recurrence of symptoms, as the compounds in Ayahuasca can trigger or exacerbate these conditions.
2. Severe personality disorders or dissociative disorders: Those with severe personality disorders, such as borderline personality disorder or dissociative disorders, may be at risk for worsening of symptoms or complications during an Ayahuasca ceremony.
3. Current use of certain prescription medications: Ayahuasca should not be taken with certain medications, including but not limited to antidepressants, antipsychotics, or other psychoactive medications, as these may interact with the compounds in the brew and lead to potentially dangerous complications.
4. Current or recent use of recreational drugs: The use of recreational drugs in the weeks leading up to an Ayahuasca ceremony can be dangerous and may interfere with the experience. Participants are advised to abstain from recreational drug use for several weeks prior to the ceremony.
5. History of heart or circulatory issues: Individuals with a history of heart disease, stroke, or other cardiovascular issues should exercise caution when considering Ayahuasca ceremonies, as the brew can increase heart rate and blood pressure.
6. History of seizures or epilepsy: Ayahuasca ceremonies may increase the risk of seizures or trigger epileptic episodes, so individuals with a history of these conditions should exercise caution when considering participation.
7. Liver disease or compromised liver function: Ayahuasca contains substances that are metabolized by the liver, so individuals with liver disease or compromised liver function may be at increased risk for complications during an Ayahuasca ceremony.
8. Pregnancy or breastfeeding: Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should not participate in Ayahuasca ceremonies due to potential risks to the developing fetus or infant.
9. Certain medical conditions: Ayahuasca should not be used by individuals with certain medical conditions, such as a history of brain injury or neurological conditions, kidney disease, or serious mental health conditions. Additionally, individuals with a weakened immune system, such as those with HIV or other immune-related conditions, may be at increased risk for complications during the ceremony.
10. Use of certain supplements: Certain supplements and herbs can interact with the compounds in Ayahuasca, leading to potentially dangerous side effects. Participants are advised to consult with our team before taking any supplements or herbs in the weeks leading up to the ceremony.
11. Age: Ayahuasca ceremonies may not be recommended for individuals under the age of 21, as their brains are still developing and may be more vulnerable to the effects of the brew.

1. Yellow Fever: This vaccine is especially recommended if you're traveling to the Amazon regions of Peru, including Pucallpa. Some neighboring countries might require proof of yellow fever vaccination if you're entering from a yellow fever endemic area in Peru.
2. Routine Vaccinations: Ensure you're up-to-date on routine shots such as measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, varicella (chickenpox), polio, and your yearly flu shot.
3. Typhoid and Hepatitis A: These are recommended due to the potential for contracting these diseases through contaminated food or water in Peru.
4. Malaria: While there's a risk in certain parts of Peru, including the Amazon basin, the region of Pucallpa is considered to be safe with a low risk of infection. Consult with a travel clinic or your doctor for advice tailored to your travel plans.

Clothing

• 5 to 7 pairs of lightweight long pants; quick-drying material preferred. Avoid jeans, as the weather is hot, humid, and wet
• 7 long-sleeved shirts; quick-drying material preferred
• 3 or 4 short sleeved t-shirts
• 1 pair of hiking socks for each day in the rainforest
• 1 light windbreaker, sweater or fleece jacket
• 1 brimmed hat (suitable for both sun and rain)
• Bathing suit
• 1 rain poncho

Footwear

• 1 pair of comfortable walking shoes
• 1 pair of sandals

Equipment

• Sun block lotion. SPF 45 or higher is recommended
• Insect repellent (plenty of, as also useful to spray directly onto clothing)
• After bite/itch relief
• Anti-malaria pills (please check with physician before)
• Small flashlight. Headlamp models recommended
• Refillable Water bottle
• Binoculars (optional)
• 1 quick drying towel
• Wet tissues or supplies of small tissue packs
• Black bin liners/or zip lock bags to keep belongings dry
• Journal/camera/sunglasses etc
• Personal toiletries
